S1: Good morning ladies and gentlemen!

S2: We are glad to see all of you today at our celebration of European Spring and Earth day.

S1: On the 22^nd of April people on our planet feel that their motherland is not a country or a city where they live but Earth

S2: Our planet is unique. It’s considered to be the most beautiful in the whole universe

S1: Ukraine is great, wonderful, beautiful land. By the way do you know that our country is the biggest in Europe?

S2: Surely! And what about our audience? How well do they know the biggest, the highest, the smallest, the deepest on Earth?

S1: Let’s invite our Ms ”Know Everything” and clarify

(light music Ms ”Know Everything”)

Hello, guys! I’m Ms ”Know Everything”! Let’s start our quiz-show “How well you know Earth”. I will ask you questions and the most active participants will get sweet prizes))))))))

S1: There are nearly 200 countries on our planet and six continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, South and North America

S2: And today we are going to look at some of them and to speak about the most urgent problems

S1: Dasha, what unites people all over the world? What common language helps us to understand each other?

S2: English?

S1: Well, English is definitely very important factor but it’s not English. We can express our feelings, share our ideas and show our thoughts with the help of music and dance

S2: Of course that’s true. And today music will help us to understand each other as well.

S2: Yasha, tell me, where the most beautiful girls are believed to live?

S1: Looking at you I can say – here in Ukraine

S2: I hope you are right. Our motherland is famous for its beauty all over the world: the Crimean and the Carpathian mountains, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, attractive cities with great amount of sights: Lviv, Kyiv, Odessa and many others

S1: Ukrainians are considered to be very friendly people. We are always glad to see our guests and to treat them with our delicious borsch, varenyky, holubtsi and of course leaf-lard that can be added to everything

S2: And surely we have traditions. And one of them is music and dance. Let’s have a look!

S2: And we are carrying on. Next part of our world we are going to look at is America

S1: Oh, the USA? People usually say America when they mean The USA

S2: But the USA is only a part of it

S1: Very remarkable part: McDonalds, American football, Coca-cola

S2: … and of course Hollywood!

S1: Oh, yes! It gave birth to many astonishing films and actors: Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Al Pachino, Julia Roberts and many-many others. Anyway, what’s your favourite film?

S2: Can you guess? It’s absolutely hilarious! One of the best comedies ever! Marilyn Monroe stars in it.

S1: I know! It’s “Some like it hot”. And I have a wonderful present for you – a song from this film

S2: What about Latin America? What associations do we have?

S1: Very hot food – 100 different kinds of pepper…

S2: …Very old historical buildings, temples and cathedrals…

S1: …beautiful beaches and coasts…

S2: …and incredible Brazilian Carnivals! Amazing, marvelous, colourful thousands of dancers and absolutely fantastic dancing all night long!!!

S1: Latin America is the birthplace of many dances. For example tango appeared in Buenos Aires in the 19^th century.

S2: Its biggest influence was flamenco guitar. It was workers’ dance.

S1: There weren’t many women in Buenos Aires then, so men practiced together in the streets before they tried dancing with women. There are still many tango bars which tourists always visit.

S2: Latin dances are great and we have a magnificent opportunity to see it now

S1: Our planet is a real wonder!

S2: Why?

S1: Because it’s a wonderful combination of continents, countries and people

If to speak about the wonders of the world I should say the most incredible one is the Pyramids in Africa

S2: And Africa is the second biggest continent on Earth.

S2: It has 55 countries and nearly all Africa is washed by seas and oceans. The weather is warm and hot

S1: It has famous rainforests and there are a lot of picturesque places like Victoria Fall and Kilimanjaro

S2: And wildlife is amazing: lions, zebras, elephants, giraffes, camels and many others

S1: People in Africa speak thousand of different languages. But music can be understood everywhere

S2: The life on Earth is unbelievable. It’s so nice to enjoy every minute of living here, being in harmony with nature.

S1: It’s true, but people don’t often think of what they are doing to our planet

S2: Living in the modern world doesn’t always mean comfort and fun. We are destroying Earth

S1: People’s activity is the course of global warming, acid rains, deforestation and a lot of other problems

S2: Many plants and animals disappear never to be seen again.

S1: In many lakes and rivers fish is dying. Trees are also in serious danger.

S2: Sometimes we don’t think of what we are doing to Earth. Our indifference leads to global disasters and devastations.

S1: 27 years ago great tragedy came to Ukraine - explosion at Chornobyl atomic station. Contamination of water, land and air was the reason of great amount of deaths and refugees. As a result – deserted town near Kyiv

S2: And in 2011 a similar tragedy took place in Fucusima in Japan.

S1: We should think not only about ourselves but future generations. Never forget that we are people of the world!

S2: We must be fans of nature!
